Since 1980, Star M Christmas Tree Plantation brings joy to families through the choose-and-cut Christmas tree experience. Star M provides families a place to harvest a Real Tree, plenty of outdoor activities, a selection of Christmas decorations, and snacks for the whole family. Outdoor activities range from a hayride to a scavenger hunt to a children's train. The barn and gift shop offer many Christmas decorations including wreaths, garland, ornaments, and the unique State of Texas Capitol Christmas Ornament. Finally, families can enjoy an assortment of refreshments in the gift shop.
The heart of Star M Christmas Plantation is family. Originally founded by Dr. Dan and Claudette McNew, Star M has become home to several generations of an extended family, even now extending to a fourth generation. From our family to yours, we welcome you and wish you a Merry Christmas!

Caring for your real Christmas tree is easy. Just remember, trees need water just like a fresh bouget of flowers.
Before mounting in a stand, cut at least 1/4" (recommended 1 to 2 inches) off the bottom of the trunk to remove sap and allow absorption of water.
Immediately place your tree in a water-holding tree stand.
For maximum beauty and safety, use a tree stand that holds at least 1 gallon of water.
Trees can be very thirsty, so add fresh water daily as needed. A fresh tree containing adequate moisture will NOT support a flame.
If storing your tree outside before decorating, remember to keep it in water and protect it from the wind and sun.
Keep your tree away from fireplaces and other heat sources.
If you allow the water level to drop below the fresh cut, a new seal will form and the tree will no longer absorb water. A new cut will be necessary.
